Weck rubber seals are the perfect addition to your home preserving equipment. Designed for use with the Weck canning system, the rubber seals will ensure a perfect seal on your glass jars.

Canning food has become extremely popular in recent years. It is a great way to make the most of any gluts of produce you may have and avoid waste; in addition, preserving food when it is available cheaply and in season means you can enjoy it all year round. There are many different types of food that can be preserved. Pickles and chutneys are a popular option, while fruit, vegetables and even meat can be preserved to be enjoyed later.

Weck rubber sealing rings are made in Germany by one of the most trusted brands in the industry. Made from natural rubber, they are free from BPA and other potentially harmful chemicals. They are an essential part of the preserving process and are incredibly simple to use.

Preserved food may be cooked or uncooked before being placed in the jars, depending on the recipe. All jars should be sterilised before use to remove any harmful bacteria. Placing a rubber seal between the rim of the glass jar and the lid will create an airtight seal that will prevent oxygen getting into the jar and causing the food inside to spoil. The jars and their contents are then heated to kill off any bacteria, meaning the food will last for longer.

A new rubber seal should be used for every jar, as damaged rings will not create an airtight seal. To open the sealed jars, simply pull on the tab of the rubber ring. This will break the seal, allowing a small amount of air into the jar. The vacuum will be broken and the lid can be simply lifted off.
