Pizza spinners might appear to be a rather specialist bit of cooking kit, the kind you'd buy and shove to the back of a drawer and then never use, but actually after one spin with the spinners, you will wonder how you ever cooked a pizza properly without them. With most ovens there is a danger of one side of the pizza coming out brown and crispy while the other remains rather floppy and anaemic. The simple solution of course is to turn the pizza while cooking - but you have probably found that it's not quite as easy as it looks. Most pizzas are best cooked directly on the oven shelf rather than on a baking tray, and tools slipped beneath the pizza base can get stuck within the grill lines and the turning process becomes a frustrating dance to avoid burning your wrist on the oven. The pizza spinners work from the top of the pizza and grasp the cheese and dough for grip, hence the lovely, cheese bubble popping entertainment. You can also use them to lift the pizza and check how the base is cooking from a comfortable distance and for popping any pockets of air which rise in the dough, while the prongs at the end are useful for picking up any morsels of topping that might have fallen from the pizza.
